Gary Thomas has been performing and recording professionally as a bassist for the past 14 years. After spending his early years as a musician in Gainesville Florida, Gary moved to Miami in 2007 to study music at the University of Miami, completing both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree. Gary has studied under the direction of Chuck Bergeron, Gary Lindsay, Terence Blanchard, Dave Holland, and many others.

Gary has been recognized as a composer in Downbeat Magazine, and has participated in Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead, at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. He has performed alongside artists such as Mary Wilson, Shelly Berg, Richie Cole, Ira Sullivan, John Fedchock, and with the Woody Herman Orchestra.

Gary has been an Adjunct Professor of music at Miami Dade College since 2014, specializing in Jazz Bass and Music Theory instruction. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Gary continues to perform monthly at the “Jazz at Wolfson” guest artist concert series presented at MDC’s Wolfson Campus.

Throughout South Florida, Gary continues to work extensively as both a group leader and freelance artist in a variety of musical applications. He is frequently called to perform, compose, and record Jazz, Rock, Pop, CCM, Electronic Music, and a variety of other genres as an Acoustic and Electric Bassist. Gary has recently had the opportunity to collaborate as a composer and pianist with prominent songwriters and producers in the South Florida community.
